Terpin | Ribolla Gialla 2016 | 750mL | Italy
This wine waited eight years. It can wait for the right moment.
Franco Terpin farms a small patch of hillside in Collio, where Slovenia and Italy blur together. His Ribolla Gialla spends time macerating on the skins, then goes into Slovenian oak, then steel, then years in bottle before it goes anywhere. That's not a marketing move. That's a winemaker who doesn't ship something until it's ready.
What you get is a deep amber wine that's dry but honeyed, structured but not heavy. Salt, dried fruit, something that smells faintly coastal even though you're drinking it at a picnic table. It throws sediment. That's normal. Decant it or don't, but know it's there. This is a pours-slowly, drinks-slowly kind of wine. A long dinner, a fire pit, a night that doesn't need to wrap up early.
Unfined, unfiltered. Wild fermentation. We don't usually stock 750ml. This one earned it.
