Esquina Wine Shop | Our Story

Wine that goes where you go.

Esquina is the Spanish word for corner. As in the shop worth knowing about. The one that finds the good stuff before you do.

Heidi started Esquina with one observation: the way people actually drink wine in California -- at the beach, on the boat, at the end of a trail, with a friend on a patio and firepit -- deserves a shop built around it. So she built it.

The shop carries cans, bagnums, boxes, and 1L lightweight bottles. Formats chosen because they travel, because they share well, and because a cooler is a perfectly good wine rack. A standard 750ml glass bottle weighs more than the wine inside it. Shipping wine in glass across California is expensive, heavy, and fragile. Cans, bagnums, and 1L bottles solve all three problems. That's not incidental to why we stock them.

Every wine here is picked because it's good and because it earns its place in a real situation. A lot of the producers behind these wines are female, BIPOC, and independent -- people making interesting things outside the mainstream. That's not a filter. It's just where we keep finding the best wine.

Esquina has partnered with Emo Brown, Tree San Diego, Think Dignity, and Business For Good -- organizations doing work in California communities that we actually believe in.

The shop is open.
