In Austria, putting a liter bottle on the table used to mean something -- you were committed, everyone was committed, and nobody was going anywhere until it was finished. Four certified organic farmers in Kamptal brought that tradition back. They grow separately, ferment together at the Jurtschitsch family winery, and bottle in the format that was always meant for a table of people having a good time. The label is a throwback to the old family bottles. The wine inside is better than any of those were.

This is the Saturday afternoon bottle. The farmers market haul bottle. The one you open at noon at a backyard hang and it's somehow gone by 2pm and no one is mad about it.

Serve cold. This is what a good time tastes like in Austria and it travels well.
